The Château de Latour-sur-Sorgues enriches its cultural offer with an audio-guided tour by Sycomore
4 June 2025
Located in Marnhagues-et-Latour, in the Aveyron, the Château de Latour-sur-Sorgues, restored over more than 27 years by dedicated volunteers, now has a new cultural interpretation solution: a multilingual audio guide designed by Sycomore.
A thousand-year-old château restored with passion
Perched in a remarkable natural setting, this thousand-year-old château is a true witness to local history. It now opens its doors to the public to reveal its architectural and heritage treasures, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Inside, visitors travel through the centuries: a Romanesque window, a 16th-century painted ceiling and a medieval tower with panoramic views punctuate the tour.
An immersive audio-guided tour for all audiences
Since 2023, the château has offered an audio-guided tour for the first time, the result of a collaboration between the château's team and Sycomore. This solution allows for a self-guided visit while preserving the lively, personal spirit of the place.
Some twenty A-Guide devices were supplied by Sycomore. This lightweight, ergonomic equipment offers several ways of triggering the commentary; here, traditional keypad triggering by number was chosen.
Lively, multilingual storytelling
Visitors can choose from four languages: French, English, Spanish and Dutch. The French version, crafted with particular care, takes an interview-based approach: the voices are those of the château's inhabitants or their descendants, who speak in the first person about their experiences, daily life within these walls and the memories passed down through the generations.
The foreign-language versions retain this content in a more classic, narrative form, with careful translation and professional recording produced by Sycomore.
Interpretation at the heart of the visitor strategy
The audio guide complements the existing tour options. Visitors can now choose between:
- Self-guided visit (€6 adults, €4 concessions)
- Classic guided tour (€8 adults, €6 concessions)
- Visit with audio guide (€7 adults, €5 concessions)
Children under 5 enjoy free admission. Beyond the visit itself, the château offers a dynamic programme: historical investigations and educational workshops, the escape game "L'Affaire du Milicien", a fun workshop for 3-6 year-olds, and the Nuits de Mystère, a giant escape game held after nightfall at the end of October.
Sycomore, a partner in cultural interpretation
By collaborating with the Château de Latour-sur-Sorgues, Sycomore once again demonstrates its expertise in interpretation tailored to human-scale heritage sites. A member of the VOX group, the European leader in guided tours, Sycomore focuses on cultural interpretation solutions for museums, châteaux and monuments. Thanks to this partnership, the history of the place can now be heard in every language, through the voices of those who lived there.
