The art of writing for Culturespaces' immersive exhibitions

2 August 2024

Sycomore has been chosen as Culturespaces' official partner to write the content of the visit applications dedicated to its immersive exhibitions: an accompaniment designed to deepen the discovery of the works, before or after the experience, whenever the visitor wishes.

Unforgettable immersive exhibitions

Culturespaces is renowned for its immersive exhibitions that plunge visitors into fascinating visual and sonic worlds. Exhibitions such as *Van Gogh, Starry Night*, *Monet, Renoir, Chagall: Journeys around the Mediterranean*, *Dalí, the Endless Enigma* and *Gustav Klimt, Gold in Motion* have already captivated millions of spectators around the world. Each offers a unique experience in which works of art come to life through technology and immersive staging.

Structured, engaging content

Sycomore-Vox enriches these exhibitions by writing visit applications that complement the experience: anecdotes, analyses of works and quotations add a new dimension to the journey. Each work's entry is divided into three parts, each with a humorous title to capture the reader's attention:

A dive into history: "The Egypt of the Pharaohs, from Cheops to Ramses II"

This immersive exhibition offers a fascinating plunge into three millennia of Egyptian history, from emblematic figures of power to daily life in ancient Egypt. The visit application allows visitors to deepen their knowledge of the works on display: statues of gods and goddesses, pharaohs and their wives, frescoes discovered in the royal tombs. Among the anecdotes shared, visitors learn that the craftsmen of the royal tombs were already going on strike for higher wages, or that there were "hunting cats", used to catch birds.

An artistic exploration: "The Orientalists, Ingres, Delacroix, Gérôme"

The exhibition on the Orientalists takes visitors on an artistic journey into the 19th century, where Romanticism meets exoticism. Born of certain painters' fascination with an Orient more imaginary than geographical, this movement captures scenes ranging from Andalusian Spain to the Ottoman Empire, by way of the Maghreb and part of Asia. The visit application reveals how the artistic Orient influenced the decorative arts in Europe: the arabesques of mosques inspiring the wallpapers, interiors and furniture of the period.

The art of making art accessible

Each application is designed to reflect the choices of the exhibition curators and the guiding thread of the immersive experience. This collaboration between Sycomore and Culturespaces illustrates the importance of storytelling in cultural interpretation: the exhibitions do not merely present works, they invite visitors to explore the history, culture and anecdotes surrounding them, for an experience that is both educational and entertaining.
