Discover the history of Nimes in 10 minutes with the S-Guide audioguide
8 January 2026
A new immersive experience at the Nimes Tourist Office
Last week, our technical team completed the installation of the new S-Guide audioguide version within the interpretation system at the Nimes Tourist Office.
This intelligent audio headset, triggered automatically based on the visitor's position, now accompanies a relief model (350 x 200 x 20 cm) retracing 28 centuries of the history of Nimes, from the Gallic era to the present day.
Video mapping + S-Guide audioguide: effortless immersion
A narrative film projected by video mapping onto the model allows visitors to visualise the urban evolution of Nimes in a clear, vivid, and accessible way. With the S-Guide audioguide, commentary is delivered automatically and in perfect synchronisation with the projected images.
This hands-free system provides a smooth experience without any manual operation. Content is available in three languages: French, English, and Spanish, making the interpretation fully inclusive.
A free, technology-driven experience accessible to all
Available free of charge within the Nimes Tourist Office, this installation offers a 10-minute immersive experience combining technology, heritage, and accessibility.
With the S-Guide intelligent audioguide, Sycomore continues to support cultural sites in their digital transformation for the benefit of the public.
After the visit: must-see monuments in Nimes
After this immersion in 28 centuries of history, Nimes offers many notable sites within walking distance of the Tourist Office. Among the highlights:
- Arena of Nimes, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world.
- Maison Carree, an ancient temple listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Tour Magne, a remnant of the Roman fortifications offering a panoramic view of the city.
- Jardins de la Fontaine, one of the oldest public gardens in Europe, combining nature and ancient remains.
- Musee de la Romanite, for a deeper exploration of the city's Roman past through contemporary museum design.
Be sure to take a tour device (audioguide, guided tour, or interpretation app) to fully engage with the monuments, understand their history, and appreciate the richness of the heritage of Nimes.
