A remarkable feat of 19th-century canal engineering, the Fontinettes Boat Lift is now a working museum that tells the story of this hydraulic lift, in operation from 1888 to 1967.
To immerse visitors in this industrial history, Sycomore equipped the site with the hands-free S-Guide headset: an automatic audioguide that triggers commentary based on the visitor's position.
Sound effects, fictional testimonies, and immersive narratives bring to life the voices of the lift's last keeper and former bargemen. Available in three languages, the S-Guide makes this experience accessible to all.
