The Musée de la Céramique in Desvres: an interactive tour for all audiences

The Musée de la Céramique in Desvres, located in a major centre of ceramic production, offers a fascinating dive into 300 years of ceramic history, with nearly 700 pieces on display: pottery, faience, porcelain and stoneware, complemented by decorative tiles, monumental pieces and contemporary creations. To make the experience even more accessible and engaging, the museum now offers two visitor routes tailored to adults and children alike.

An adult tour with the A-Guide

The adult tour is now accompanied by 40 A-Guides, modern audio guides that bring the history of Desvres ceramics to life in an interactive way. This audio tour is available in French, English and Dutch, and offers an immersive experience by synchronizing the audio content with the audiovisual points of interest placed along the route.

Visitors can listen to detailed accounts of each object and work on display, while enjoying the videos and testimonies that enrich their understanding. This feature allows the museum to offer an interactive visit and open its doors to an international audience.

A children's tour with the Audiopen: a fun, interactive tool

For its youngest visitors, the museum also offers a dedicated route with the Audiopen, an interactive tool that makes the visit both fun and educational. Children discover the objects while answering the questions of an interactive quiz throughout the tour. Each child receives a map marked with specific points to discover: when they point the Audiopen at these areas, the device triggers age-appropriate commentary and lets them take part in a learning game.

Tours in French, English and Dutch

The French-language route is designed to be fully self-guided: each room is equipped with explanatory panels in French, and audio guides offering a spoken version of all the information can be borrowed free of charge. For international audiences, the audio guides synchronized with the videos are also available free of charge in English and Dutch, ensuring a smooth and complete experience in these languages.

An ongoing partnership with Sycomore

The A-Guides replace the Audiopass devices installed on site for around ten years. This change is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Musée de la Céramique in Desvres and Sycomore. Thanks to this update, the museum has modernized its cultural interpretation tools while offering an improved experience accessible to all.

By adopting the A-Guides and Audiopens, the museum makes the history of ceramics more accessible, engaging and suited to new interactive ways of learning, and ensures international accessibility for every visitor, adult and child alike.
