The Château de Modave: a visit experience in the company of the Audiopen

Perched more than 60 metres above the Hoyoux valley, the Château de Modave was looking for a simple, intuitive tool to guide visitors through its 25 rooms: thus began the collaboration with Sycomore and its Audiopen.

Recognized as Major Heritage of Wallonia in 1993, the château attracts many visitors every year, curious to learn more about its history and its secrets.

The Audiopen: fun, interactive technology

Sycomore, a specialist in cultural interpretation solutions, supplied the Château de Modave with its Audiopen, an interactive device in the form of an audio stylus that visitors point at the numbered labels placed along the route. When the tip of the stylus touches an encoded zone, the corresponding audio plays automatically. This simple, fluid interaction lets visitors wander freely at their own pace, choosing the content that interests them.

Available in eight languages, the Audiopen gives a wide audience the chance to discover the château's stories and anecdotes without constraint, while remaining in control of their own route.

A visit accessible to everyone

The site has chosen to include the audio guide in the price of the entrance ticket. On arrival, visitors can pick up an Audiopen at a self-service point before starting their route, for a fully independent visit.

The audio-guided tour highlights the site's remarkable architectural features, such as the famous 17th-century stucco ceilings, the finely carved panelling and the large decorative canvases adorning the walls. Visitors also discover the history of the château's former owners and the evolution of the estate through the centuries.
